Durant VLA Campus COVID-19 Response Guide

 

DAILY SCREENING

Parents will screen daily to ensure child is well and fever free before coming to school.

  • Parents who send their child to school are certifying that he/she is healthy.
  • Student temperature will be taken as needed during the school day.
  • Staff will screen themselves and in doing so are certifying they are healthy.

AT SCHOOL PROCEDURES

  1. Any student and staff member is welcome to wear a mask at all times.
  2. Isolation: Any student or staff member who exhibits a fever of 100.2 degrees or higher will be isolated from students in their class or their classroom, and will be sent home.
  3. After being sent home, a student or staff member cannot return to school until one of the following criteria is met: A staff member or student testing positive for COVID-19 can return to school when:
    1. Five (5) days have passed since the first symptom appeared or positive test date if asymptomatic.
    2. Symptoms have dramatically improved.
    3. They have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of ANY fever reducing medication like Tylenol or ibuprofen.
    4. CDC/VLA recommends that students/staff returning after (5) days wear a mask for another (5) days while on campus.
  4. A staff member or student who reports they are experiencing symptoms (i.e. fever of 100.2 or greater; loss of taste or smell; severe congestion; body aches/dry cough) can return to work/school when:
    1. Five (5) days have passed since the first symptom appeared or positive test date if asymptomatic.
    2. Symptoms have dramatically improved.
    3. They have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of ANY fever reducing medication like Tylenol or ibuprofen.
    4. The student will be counted present when digital learning is utilized and will meet with campus educators online for assistance with assignments/or will be sent home packets.

Teachers will:
*Maximize classroom space
*Clean all toys, door handles, faucet handles, desks, tables, etc. daily
